^NOTE: **MS-TSF has a Stith (b. 28 Mar 1686, Kippax, Charles County, VA; d. 1727), brother of Drury, married (1714) to Elizabeth Rogers. TMSI has Elizabeth Rogers as mother of Elizabeth Hartwell.

Findagrave Memorial 209

Son of Col. Robert and Anne Stith Bolling (NOTE: Anne Stith WAS NOT Anne MERRIWEATHER Stith. That is an error perpetuated on line. This has been documented by the Merriweather Society in America)

Stith, Husband of Elizabeth Rogers Hartwell (widow of John Hartwell) married about 1720 Virginia. There were at least four sons, named in the Last Will and Testament of Stith Bolling of Surry County; Probated August 16, 1727; Stith Jr., Alexander, John and Robert, and makes provisions for two daughters, however does not name them. His wife, Elizabeth and brother Robert Bolling are named Executors. Sury County Records Wills and Deeds 1715-30, Page 751.
Notes for Elizabeth (Spouse 1)
Elizabeth is named in Henry’s Will as his wife and infers she was the widow of Stith Bolling. Some references state she was Elizabeth Rogers, widow of John Hartwell and Col. Stith Bolling. Stith Bolling died in 1727 and Henry supposedly married Elizabeth that year.
Other Marriage notes for Elizabeth (Spouse 1)
Previously married to John Hartwell and Stith Bolling. Possibly married to Henry Browne.
Research notes for Elizabeth (Spouse 1)
BIRTH:
12 Apr 1686 as given seems unlikely if Henry was born in 1699.

DEATH:
16 Aug 1727 is clearly incorrect as she is alive in 1734 when Henry wrote his will. It appears that it was Jane Stith whose will was proved in Surry Co.,VA, 16 Aug, 1727, and mentions her Stith kids.

MARRIAGES
Elizabeth had a daughter, Elizabeth Hartwell, by John Hartwell. Elizabeth Hartwell married Richard Cocke. In Henry’s Will he mentions John Simmons, his wife, and his son, Hartwell Cocke. Could Elizabeth (Hartwell) Cocke have remarried to John Simmons?

FaG has Elizabeth Hartwell (Ruffin) Cocke [198094734] as mother of Hartwell Cocke [198094221].
