Lancelot Bathurst was born about 1646 in Gloucestershire (”Lechlade Manor”?) and immigrated to Virginia. According to a land patent dated 16 April 1683 in New Kent County, Lancelot purchased 1,250 acres from Johnathon Newell on 5 April 1670. A 1682 recording in England stated he was “of Virginia, married there and living age 36.” These references establish Lancelot’s approximate year of birth (1645 or 1646), that he was in Virginia prior to 1670 and that he married and his children were all born there as well. 439 575
