John Lewis obtained permission from the House of Burgesses to dispose of the Byrd Plantation and reinvest the money in land on Dan River in Pittsylvania County and Halifax County. His home was in Pittsylvania County. The date of his removal is not known, but it is before the Revolutionary War.
