Biography notes for Jacob Oglesby
Jacob Oglesby
Jacob is the only known son of Richard and Susannah. His date and place of birth are not known, though most genealogies claim he was born about 1709 in either Henrico or Goochland. He was almost certainly named for his maternal grandfather, Rev. Jacob Ware, who died in Henrico about 1709. He married a Miss Constance _____ and had issue: William, Richard and Jacob. A fourth son, Thomas, is frequently named, but this seems unlikely.
It is not known when or where Jacob died, though there are many unsupported guesses in published Oglesby genealogies.
Like his father, he was probably a Virginia planter.

Miscellaneous
Jacob is named in the will of his grandmother, Susannah (Adams) Ware, so this confirms he is a son of Richard and Susannah.
Alive in Albemarle Co. in 1761; may have been alive in 1780 in Amherst Co. The information on Findagrave is mostly fabricated nonsense.
In 1737 he consented to the sale of property for whick his mother Susannah had waived her right of dower. In the late 1730s and 1740s he sued his mother and step father several times over the status of the estate of his father.
