Susannah (Ware) Oglesby
Susannah is a daughter of Rev. Jacob Ware and his wife Susannah Adams. During her childhood her family lived in New Kent County and Henrico County, places where Rev. Ware was a minister of the Church of England.
Susannah married Richard Oglesby about 1708 and was the mother of four known children: Jacob, Elizabeth Coraby, Alice and Mourning.
After the death of Richard in early 1732, she married Charles Allen before 1735; there are no known children from the second marriage.
She was alive as late as 1744.

Susannah is believed to have married Richard Oglesby about 1708 and their first child, son Jacob, was born about 1709. (Note that there are no documents validating these dates; pure speculation and guesswork.)
After the death of Richard Oglesby, she married Charles Allen bef 1735, probably in Goochland County; she is listed as “my daughter, Susannah Allen” in her mother’s 1735 Will. They had no known children.

When Susannah died is not known. A number of sources claim that she died on 5 May 1735, but this is actually the date that her mother’s Will was proved.
She was alive in 1737 when she signed a document relinquishing her right of dower to land that her husband Charles was selling.
She was sued several times in the late 1730s and early 1740s by her son, Jacob, over the status of his father’s estate, for which she was the executrix.
She was the executrix of Richard Oglesby’s estate, which was not settled until 1744, indicating she was alive at that time.
Her Findagrave Memorial repeats the incorrect death date and claims she was buried on the Richard Oglesby Plantation. This seems unlikely, as she had been with Charles Allen for years by then. Where she and Charles are buried is not known.

“To Jacob Oglesby, an Indian Fellow named Roger and one horse called Cydder & one Bridle & Sadle.
To my grandaughter Elizbth. Coraby Oglesby, an Indian girl named Sarah when she comes of age or is married, except the two first children this Indian shall bring which I give unto Alice and Mourning Oglesby but her mother to have the use of the said Sarah.“
Researchers also usually include a Thomas Oglesby (~1712–<1787). This seems unlikely as he was not mentioned in Susanna Ware’s Will. Others include sons Richard and William, but again only the four named in the Will are proven.
