"p.716. Will of James Webb of South Farnham Par., Essex Co. Dated 30 Nov. 1716. Probated 15 January 1716/17. To wife Sarah, 3 slaves during life, at her death to surviving children. To son John "the plantation whereon I now live and all the land belonging to me that lies on the lower side of the main road". He failing in heirs to son James. To son John "my horse called fire with my saddle Holsters Sword and pistolls". Also 3 slaves. To son James remaining part of lands lying above the road. He failing in heirs to son John. Also 3 slaves and an iron gray horse. To daughter Catherine 3 slaves. To daughter Mercy 3 slaves. Refers to son James as being under 18 yrs. Refers to "my four Children". Balance of Est. to be div. betw. wife and the 4 children, no division to be made until son John be 18 yrs. old. Exors: "my beloved brother Isaac Webb" with sons john and James Webb. Brother Isaac Webb to do what is necessary toward education of children. Signed James Webb. Wit: Giles Webb, Jno X Callicot, Pr.
