I set free a yellow boy James & give him tract of land bot of John Goodman.
To Wm. Captain land purchased of Thos. Gibbins.
To my wife Ann Boswell plantation whereon I now live, then to Thomas Boswell & Thomas Johnson, minor.
To said Thomas Johnson, minor land lent to my wife. If British debt should be paid, I give to the said Thomas Johnson, minor, the land bot in Orange of Matthew More & pines tract bot if the sheriff & likewise that was Ragland's bot of Sheriff & to my bro. A Thomas Johnson Minor was appointed an Executor of this will. It is important, at this point, to distinguish between the various Thomas Johnsons living in Louisa County in the latter 1700s. John Boswell had at least two nephews named Thomas Johnson. One was called "Sheriff" and one was called "Minor". The 1803 court case and the will of John Boswell together show that Thomas Johnson "Minor" was a son of Col. Richard Johnson & his wife Dorothy of Hanover. Thomas Johnson "Sheriff" was son of Nicholas Johnson and Elizabeth Hudson.

John Boswell of Louisa died, testate, leaving his brother, Thomas Boswell, and Thomas Johnson (Minr.), father of orator, residuary devisees by which they became owners of land in Tazewell, 2,137 acres, located in 1785 by Zachariah Stanley for himself and Boswell. Stanley has sold 500 acres to Josiah (Isaiah ?) Wynne. Thos. Johnson died, testate, leaving five sons, viz: John B., Richard C., Thomas M., William and orator. Richard C. and William have died unmarried and intestate. Orator has sisters, viz: Dorothy, wife of Patrick Michie; Jane and Ann Johnson, who survive. Thos. Boswell has also died, leaving grandson, Thomas Boswell, residuary legatee. Daniel Harman has a conflicting interest. Since 5th September, 1814, John B. Johnson has died, leaving widow, Elizabeth Johnson, and 3 infants, viz: Thomas, Chapman and Maria Barclay Johnson. Jane Johnson has married Alexander Stuart. Ann Johnson has married ---- Parish (?). Deed by Zachariah Stanley of Montgomery to Chapman Johnson, his interest in land with Boswell. Dated 30th December, 1807. Recorded in Augusta, 30th December, 1807. Will of Thomas Boswell of Ware Parish, Gloucester County. Daughter, Dorothy Churchill; grandson, Thomas Boswell; daughter, Elizabeth Armistead and her daughter, Elizabeth Thornton Armstead; daughter, Frances Thornton Mullins; daughter, Jane Major, widow; grandson, John Armistead; grandchildren, Thomas, Mary Ann, Elizabeth Thornton and Susannah Fauntleroy Armstead; daughter, Ann Longest. Dated 23d February, 1797. Recorded Gloucester, 4th December, 1797. Will of Jesiah Wynne of Tazewell County. Printis, assignee of David Anderson, enters 1,000 acres 29th August, 1785, beginning at east side of Morris Griffith’s Nob commonly called Rich Mountain, thence to Inglishes line. 29th August, 1785, John Boswell enters to adjoin above.
