Meriwether Skelton
He lived at Spring Garden in Hanover County where he grew large quantities of tobacco. In 1775 he was appointed a member of the Committee of Safety for Hanover County. "He never married, and the reason is well known in the family. It reflects no discredit on him, but proves that he was very steadfast of mind and purpose." He owned lands in the counties of Hanover, Goochland, and Fluvanna, all of which were left to his sisters Sally and Lucy.
He left a will in Hanover County dated 13 March 1778.
