Nicholas Lewis was a member of the Committee of Safety and Convention of 1775; captain and colonel of the Virginia militia; served as deputy for Buckingham County, Va.; commanded minute men in the expedition against the Cherokee Indians.

"Inventory and appraisement of the Residue of the Slaves and personal Estate of Col. Nicholas Lewis decd. this the 6th day of March 1824."
