Notes for Richard Johnson
DEATH
There seems to be some confusion about his death date; LEC cites "Hanover Migrations, vol 1, p. 6 as giving a date of 29 Sep 1791; EGH has 27 Sep 1771. GMB cites 21W(1)46 as stating that Richard died Oct 1771 at New Castle; 25V425 has the same date and cites the Virginia Gazette. This article also states that there was a 1772 deed in Louisa (exact date not given) which refers to Dorothy Johnson of Hanover, widow of Col. Richard Johnson.
