Biography notes for Jane
Jane (?) Broadribb White Hartwell

Jane was originally identified as Jane Meriwether in Tyler’s “Cradle of Virgina”. She first married William Broadribb about 1664; they had one son, William Jr. William Sr. died before 6 October 1669 when she is found married to Col William White. Col. White died about 1681; there are no known children. Jane married, third, Henry Hartwell, before 4 May 1686. In 1695 the Hartwells returned to London, where Jane died in early Jun 1698. Henry died the following year but in his will listed the four living Meriwether children and one living Browne child of Elizabeth (?) Elizabeth (?) Meriwether Browne as nephews and nieces of his late wife, Jane. This proves that Jane’s maiden name was not Meriwether and research has found no evidence to support her having been married to a Meriwether.
