Notes for Nicholas Meriwether
Contrary to many published Meriwether genealogies, this Nicholas did NOT marry Mildred Thornton. He was mentioned in a Middlesex County deed51, dated 5 Jun 1714, conveying land to his cousin, Susannah Meriwether, daughter of his uncle Thomas. Unlike his siblings William and David, he is not mentioned in the will of Francis Clements, dated 8 Apr 1721, indicating he died before 1721.214

"Nicholas son of Nicholas Meriwether Gent. by ELiz. his wife born the 11th July and baptized the 6 Augt following, 1699." 30

Nicholas almost certainly did not live to adulthood. The last document that referenced him was Middlesex land deed dated 5 June 1714. He was not mentioned in the will of his cousin Francis Clements Jr in 1721.
In 1709 he was named as a son of Nicholas in the will of his uncle, Thomas Meriwether; in 1714 he was named as a son of Col. Nicholas Meriwether in a 1714 deed involving Thomas. 51
