Subject: Oglesby Family Research

Hello, Joe:

I came across your name and e-mail address on a web page connected with
Katherine Monticue's genealogy research. It mentioned that you are
looking for descendants of Richard Oglesby and Susanna Ware. If what I
have seen by just web research is true, I would be such a person.

My great-great-great-great-grandmother is Martha Oglesby, daughter of
Jacob Oglesby and Mildred Martin, I believe. Martha married Edward Cox
in Virginia in 1813, had seven children (six of whom survived), and died
in 1824 at Raccoon Ford. In 1826, Edward, his brother William, their
mother Elizabeth, and Edward's six little children went to live in the
Owenite community in New Harmony, Indiana.

My great-great-great-grandfather (one of Edward and Martha's sons) was
James Pleasants Cox. It appears that an "s" was added to the name
"Pleasant", who was a half-brother of Martha? Other middle names of the
six children are Oglesby, Martin, Travers, Waddle, and Mildred. The use
of Oglesby, Martin, and Mildred do lead me to be confident that there's
the solid connection to Jacob Oglesby and Mildred Martin.

Does any of this above information jibe with anything you know? My
ultimate goal is to actually find more information on Edward and William
Cox's parents and so on.
