Agnes Shaw, 94, died at Westward Heights Nursing Home in Lander on July 6. She was born in Garrett, the daughter of John and Kate (Oliver) McFarland. At age 15, she contracted with the post office to carry mail by horseback around Garrett and at age 17, she became a state certified teacher. She taught the area ranch children in a rural school. She married James Shaw in 1912. She worked as a clerk in a dry goods store and retired in 1950. She lived in the Wheatland area for 55 years and has been living in Lander since 1973. She is survived by a daughter Harriet Chambers of Lander, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
