Lois Thro Bowles was born January 6, 1919 in New Orleans, LA. She moved to Florida in 1958 when her husband, William Bowles purchased the Robb and Stuckey Furniture Company with his brother, Louis G. Bowles. Lois became a tireless volunteer for many organizations.
Mrs. Bowles is survived by her son, William C. Bowles, Jr. (Debbie); her daughter, Beth Ely (Larry); grandson, Daniel Bowles (Martha) and her granddaughter, Leslie Prosser (Mike).
Lois’ volunteer work included: Lee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary member for 45 years. She worked in every department from flowers, candy stripers, patient information and the gift shop. She was a founding member for the Lee County Children’s’ Adoptive Home Society. She was a member of the Garden Council and the Sabal Palm Garden Club for 40 years. She was the winner of the strolling flower show for Edison Pagcant Festival of Light; Founding member of the Back to School Children’s Clothing Drive; Sunday school teacher* for First United Methodist Church; member of the Women’s Community Club; collected and delivered food to the Soup Kitchen; and was a collector for Toy’s for Tots.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice.
