Fielding Lewis had at least ten children with Betty Washington. One son, Lawrence, married Nellie Custis, granddaughter of Martha (Dandridge) Custis Washington.

Died—At Audley, in Frederick County, on Apr. 9, in her 65th year, Mrs. Betty Carter, relict of the late Charles Carter, and only dau. of the only sister of the Father of this Country, Gen. George Washington.
