Christened Katherine, she was known as Sarah, probably to avoid confusion with her mother, also Katherine (Catherine). This has led to a great deal of confusion amongst genealogists, however. It is now accepted that she was adopted by her step father, Rev. Charles Grymes, and was known as Sarah Grymes. 625
Notes for Robert (Spouse 1)
Robert Taliaferro seems to have arrived in Virginia between 1638 and 1645. There are references to 1638, but 1645 is the date of a major land grant (6,500 acres) to Robert Toliver, Gentleman, and Major Lawrence Smith. He was a Protestant probably born in England.
