George Hoomes died testate in Caroline County in 1733. The executors of his will were George Hoomes and Christopher Hoomes. It is known that George Hoomes, the first, had the following sons and daughter: George Hoomes (1709-1793); Christopher Hoomes (w. 1785); Joseph Hoomes (w. 1784); Benjamin Hoomes (w. 1785); who married Elizabeth Claiborne, believed to be a daughter of Thomas Claiborne and Ann Fox, his wife; and Priscilla Hoomes, the only daughter, who married Joseph Pollard of King and Queen County.[57]
The son, Benjamin Hoomes, first appeared in King and Queen County at Dunkirk. In 1782, he was charged with 640 acres of land in King and Queen County, which he sold to Fleming Gaines in 1783. It is believed that Benjamin Hoomes married Elizabeth Claiborne, one of the numerous children of Capt. Thomas Claiborne of Sweet Hall and his wife Ann Fox. The names of Benjamin Hoomes' children strongly suggest this conclusion: Benjamin Hoomes (w. 1812); Joseph Hoomes (w. 1801); Thomas Claiborne Hoomes d. s. p. 1788); Frances Hoomes, who married Wm. Thompson; Elizabeth Hoomes; who married Thos. Stuart; Ann Fox Hoomes; and Martha Hoomes, who married Col. Philip Pendleton. [58]
Capt. Benjamin Hoomes (1755-1812), son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Claiborne Hoomes, was born in St. Stephens Parish, King and Queen County. He married Mary, daughter of Benjamin Pendleton and Mary Macon, his wife. Captain Hoomes was an officer for three years in the Revolutionary Army. He was wounded at the Battle of Monmouth, for which service he received Bounty Land on (Con't on p. 350).

When George Holmes was born in September 1666, in Stockeld, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, his father, Maj. John Thomas Hoomes, was 17 and his mother, Elizabeth Claiborne, was 23. He married Sarah Anne Reade in 1690, in York River, York, Virginia, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 11 March 1735, in King and Queen, Virginia, British Colonial America, at the age of 68, and was buried in King and Queen, Virginia, British Colonial America.
