Rebecca Pierce (wife of Richard Ankrum Perry).... was the daughter of William Pierce & Ann Tunstall of Virginia. William Pierce was the son of John Pierce and Sara Merriweather. Sara was the daughter of William Merriweather and Elizabeth Bushrod. Elizabeth was the Aunt of Hannah Bushrod-Washington, wife of Col. John Augustine Washington, brother of President George Washington.
Several years ago, a Newspaper Article from December 1936 in the Morgan Co., IN repeated a story from the Indianapolis Star, regarding Rachel Perry-Perry who was going to turn 100 years old. Rachel was the daughter of Nathan Perry (Nathan was son of Richard Ankrum Perry). Rachel stated that her grandmother was a cousin to George Washington.....her grandmother Rebecca Pierce-Perry was related by marriage to President George Washington!
In addition, Rebecca is related to Meriweather Lewis of the Lewis and Clark Explores by blood!
The above mentioned William Meriweather was the Great-Grandfather of Meriweather Lewis!!!
