He was a prosperous stock raiser and farmer in Sangamon Co, IL where he had 505 acres.
Lived first in (old) Berlin where he contributed about $4500 to the building of the Baptist church (where daug Rebecca & wife Lucy were buried)
In 1870 he moved a little south to New Berlin, Sangamon Co, IL. 403
