The steamer Ruth, whose destruction we published on Thursday, cost $70,000, but in consequence of the great increase in steamboat stock, was worth over $100,000. She was owned by Mrs. Pegram, of St. Louis, and was insured for $70,000 in various offices. Frank Oglesby, third clerk, son of Capt. J. H. Oglesby, chief clerk, was the only officer of the boat lost. About thirty persons perished in the calamity.
The steamer Ruth, whose destruction we published on Thursday, cost $70,000, but in consequence of the great increase in steamboat stock, was worth over $100,000. She married, second, Smith Cain in 1864 in Ohio. But this William Francis Oglesby is unmarried and living with parents in Indianapolis in 1860.
