Fauna Mihalko Collection

Fauna Mihalko, former genealogy librarian of the Madison Jefferson County Public Library, collected many useful and interesting records over the years until her health failed her. Fauna's family graciously donated her collection to the Jefferson County Historical Society. There, the records were organized into two categories: Genealogy and Subjects.
With permission from the JCHS, I indexed the genealogy files and cross-referenced the file titles and placed them on this site for researchers. Note that some files have an outline description which I began to write for those specifying an interest in a certain file. I regret that I am unable to continue this service as we have moved from the area. Please contact the JCHS directly to obtain copies of files.
There are many more names within the individual files which are not indexed here. Some title names are of the person submitting the information, not the family names in the file.
Individual genealogy files contain various contents. Some files are correspondence between Fauna and family genealogists, other files contain newspaper articles on individuals and / or families; and still other files are quite extensive -as are the Ryker and Lee files.
I wish to thank Fauna Mihalko and her family, as well as the Jefferson County Historical Society for preserving this body of work for future genealogists.

The JCHS fee for searching and duplicating material from the original Fauna Mihalko Genealogy Collection is $5.00 for each family name searched, plus a .25 per page copy fee. Mailing costs are included.
Hubbs
1. Copy of addressed envelope.
2. Family Records: Marriages. Joseph Hubbs m. America H. Oglesby; Bessie L. Hubbs m. James H. Woolford; other Oglesby marriages.
3. Family Records: Deaths. Several death notices for Horace Hubbs. His uncle was Jos. H. Oglesby.
4. Obituary for Benjamin Hubbs, Jr. titled A Mysteriously Missing Madisonian Located, dated 10/05/1892. Benjamin Hubbs, wife, 5 sons & 3 daughters. Wife was d/o Charles W. Basnett.
His son, Henry, m. Nat. Hunt's daughter, Mollie Hunt. Son, Charles's widow, Mrs. Helen Hubbs,
resides in this city. Daughter, Carrie, m. Mr. Barton the banker, later moved to New Orleans.
Sadie & Hannah remained single. Only part of the article is in the file.
5. Obituary for Wm. C. Hubbs, w/o Jos. & America Hubbs, aged 7 yrs., d. 10/14/1845.
