Research notes for Joseph Slayden
“My gr gr grandparents were Dr. William Martin Rodman and Sarah Jane Slayden. I have no doubts of this. Katie Rodman Kraus wrote some family history. She was a granddaughter and lived with Dr. Rodman and his 3d wife Catherine. I have a photo. Katie Kraus says Sarah Jane's father was William Slayden. Most records that I have found say that her father was Joseph Slayden. Do you have positive information about who Sarah Jane's father is ?” Ray Turner

The estate of Joseph being divided equally with Sarah Rodman is very near proof as far as I am concerned. Further, the estate makes it fairly clear that William Nicholas Slayden, who also married a RODMAN, is her brother. Nearly all Slayden males had daughters named Sarah, and there are very few "proofs" for their father unless there is a consent form for their marriages where the consenting parent is named. Clinton Slayton
