• He fought in the Revolutionary War and was sent in an open boat to Long Island NY to watch the British Army. He told of looking in the bottom of the boat and seeing the blood and bullets after a fight during the War.5386, p 2
• A source says he was captured on Long Island Sound so perhaps he was the Abel who was prisoner aboard the British prison hulk Jersey in 1776. The name appears on a list of 8,000 prisoners recorded in Dandridge’s American Prisoners of the Revolution. The death rate on the hulks was very high, and Abel may have died there.3208, p 128
