• [excerpts] A fourth-generation Californian, he was born in San Francisco and grew up on Alameda. George was a longtime resident of Piedmont and also enjoyed spending time at Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs and at the family cabin in the Sierras.
Upon completing his naval service, he attended the University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 1950 with a B.S. degree in engineering.
During his career George served as lead engineer for dredging projects for San Francisco Bridge Company and then Hydraulic Dredging Company on land reclamation and harbor development projects including the Sacramento Channel, Foster City, and Bay Farm Island.
His family was his greatest source of joy, and they, along with his many friends, will miss his kindness, his sense of humor, and his helping hand.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Bangs Krusi.
