Individual Notes
• [He] was born in Chicago of Canadian parents.
1200, p 21• Our family was hit badly by that [the depression] as my father worked on commission as a salesman for the Murnane Wholesale Paper Co., Chicago. In fact my parents bought our house on the strength that my grandmother, Anna Louise, lived with us and would help pay for it. When she died in 1929 we had to get out of the house and rent it tomake the house payments and we lived in an apartment behind my Akin grandparents. However, by the 40s my father eventually made it back up and retired as a Vice President of Berkshire Papers, Chicago.
