[7222]• [excerpts] George G. Armstrong, 75, 951 Ninth East street, former Third district court judge, died in a Salt Lake hospital at 6:30 a.m. of a cerebral hemorrhage.
He came to Salt Lake City shortly after gaining his law degree. In 1900 Judge Armstrong was appointed deputy county clerk and four years later he was elected to the bench as Third district judge which position he held until 1916.
A member of Sigma Chi fraternity, Mr. Armstrong was feted by the Beta Epsilon chapter in 1937 after having been affiliated with he fraternity 50 years.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marion M. Overback [sic], whom he married in Denver.
George is a brother of our good friend Dr. C. A. Armstrong for years a practicing physician in Prairie du Chien and now living in Dousman, Wis. and of Archie in Milwaukee.

Mrs. Mae ArmstrongFinal rites for Mrs. Mae Eckart Armstrong, prominent clubwoman and wife of George G. Armstrong, former Third District Court judge, will be conducted at 574 East First South Street, Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. by the Right Reverend Arthur W. M__?___, Episcopal bishop of Utah. Mrs. Armstrong died in a local hospital yesterday of a cerebral hemorrhage. She was born in Oskaloosa, Ia. March 14, 1872, a daughter of Isaac R. and Rebecca White Eckart, and had lived in Salt Lake since her marriage to Mr. Armstrong Dec. 22, 189-. Residence at the time of her death was 951 Ninth East Street. Survivors are her husband; a sister, Mrs. Nina Kerrick, and a niece, Virginia E. Kerrick, all of Salt Lake. Members of Sigma Chi Fraternity, of which her husband is a member, will be pallbearers. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
