• Daniel Spicer, born in the Parish of Nine Partners in the County of Charlotte, Province of New York (later New York State), came with his father Ezekiel, senior, and brothers to Augusta and Edwardsburg Townships in 1784.
Some years before the birth of Ezekiel, junior, the family had moved from the Mohawk Valley and settled in the above-mentioned County of Charlotte which is now (1967) called Washington County.
The writer is in possession of the Discharge certificate of Daniel Spicer, which states that he, as a private soldier, aged nineteen years, served honestly and faithfully for two years in Captain John Jones’ Company of His Majesty’s Provinical Regiment, called Loyal Rangers, and also six months in Colonel Jessup’s Corps and was entitled to the portion of land alloteed to each solder in the Provincial Corps. The Discharge was signed at Tiviere du Chine on the 24th of December, 1783, my Major Edward Jessup.1830, p 1

• Daniel Spicer also received a grant of 100 acres, being the west half of Lot 7, Con. 2 of Augusta, on August 10, 1801. This was but a short distance from the west half of Lot 6, Con. 2, which had been allotted to Hezekiah Mosher in 1801.1829, p 2
