• John Bass settled first at Braintree, was at Lebanon 1708, bought 110 acres of land of Rev. Samuel Whiting, in Windham, for £105, Feb. 21, 1710-11, where he settled, it being on the road from Windham Center to Scotland, now within the bounds of the latter town.
83• John and Elizabeth (Neale) Bass moved to Windham, Connecticut, now Scotland, where they built a house which belonged to their descendants until 1920. John was a weaver, and among the couple’s 10 children was Henry.

• He [John Bass] removed to Lebanon, Conn., and about 1710 bought 110 acres in Windham Co., the town now called Scotland Ct.; tradition says the land was bought from the “English Crown.”
