• William Lamb arrived here in 1798 at which time it was very sickly. Knows of no cause to raise the water except the dam in question. This concluded the evidence on the part of the prosecution.213

• Sometimes these signs [for pioneer taverns] would be devised as a play upon the name of the founder, as in the case of Capt. William Lamb, who built and was long the proprietor of the hotel bearing the sign of the Golden Lamb.
In 1798, the Court of Quarter Sessions granted tavern licenses to... William Lamb.63

• His [William Mann’s] widow subsequently married Captain Lamb, and in 1797 came with him and her children to Chillicothe.641

• p. 96, Indenture, April 25, 1804, ELEANOR LAMB, late ELEANOR MANN, executrix, and WILLIAM KING, executor, of WILLIAM MANN, dec’d, late of Fayette County, to ELSPEY TAYBOURN [sic], ADAM RAYBOURN, and THOMAS RAYBOURN, heirs and legatees of Adam Raybourn, dec’d, of the same county, for 5 shillings, 50 acres on the waters of Cane Run in Fayette county, beginning in WALTER STEWART’s line, thence northeast, bounded by JOSEPH STEWART’s land, being one equal half of 100 acres purchased by said William Mann, dec’d, and ANDREW RAYBOURN, from ROBERT PATTERSON, who conveyed the same to William Mann on May 27, 1794, and of which William Mann directed, by his last will and testament, that the said one-half, 50 acres, should be conveyed to Adam Raybourn; and whereas a deed was executed, but was destroyed by the fire in the Clerk’s office, this deed confirms the same.
