OBITUARY: From the "Galveston TX Daily News" 15 May 1905: "CIVIL WAR VETERAN, JUDGE O. ELLIS, a prominent lawyer of Uvalde passed into great beyond on May 11." Olinthus Ellis b in Henry Co. KY 5 May 1840. Served in Confederate forces as Sgt. Mjr. 8th Texas Infantry with his brother Volney of Lockhart TX. The two brothers practiced law in Hallettsville for a time and Olinthus served in the state senate. He m 1st Mattie Dibrell of Hallettsville TX, had two children, B.D. Elis of San Antonio and Lizzie Ellis of Uvalde. Wife d in 1879, he m 2nd in 1883 to S. Grace Oglesy of Uvalde and had six children, Janie B., Olin, Anna Grace, Gertrude, Paul and Hattie.
