Fantastic that you have two lines that go back to our famous Martiau ancestor. Last spring the Nicholas Martiau Descendants Association had their every three year get together in Yorktown. I found out about it way to late to make the party, but I am working hard on getting the documentation together to get our line approved for membership. We have another cousin (Dennis) who is a member of the NMDA and has offered to help me get the necessary information together so anyone with our line can be members (see pasted in info below from him). Unfortunately I haven't heard back from him lately, but i am going to tickle him today via email and maybe get the information we need. As soon as I do, I will forward via snail mail the information he sends me. Maybe if we work together on this, we can get into the organizations he mentions if you are interested.
On a related subject, I have been in contacted by Kay Rockett who has an award winning website online regarding the WARE family we are related to. This one has the lineage of Susannah WARE's family (the one that married Richard Oglesby). This one goes back into old England. I am a member of the Nicolas Martiau Descendant Association NO. 91, and also The National Huguenot Society NO. 5-603. Both Applications to these fine organizations were approved back in 1995. Unfortunately, I move around so much that no one can find me, and I let my membership fade away, and am a delinquent member. I am a very good friend with Mary L. My affliation with the General Society of the War of 1812 keeps me very busy and that is the only organization that I really devote time to. Or have time for. I founded the California State Society in 1989. I was the first state president. Presently, I am Treasurer, an office I held since my term as President expired in 1991. I also hold a National Office as District Deputy President General for the Pacific Area. This is my second term in that office.
I really believe you will enjoy your membership in NMDA, they meet in Yorktown for dedication of our esteem ancestor once every other year. I believe you are having problems like everybody else does when they try connecting Lucy Oglesby to Martiau and it is in the Wills Family Line that gives us problems. Lucy was the daughter of Ware Oglesby, born 1768, Buckingham County, Virginia, died July 17, 1840, Overton County, Tennessee, and his wife Elizabeth Dancy Cole, born Feb. 8, 1778, Fluvanna County, Virginia, died 1864, at her grandson, Luther Warren Redus' home, Blackland Plantation, Blackland, Mississippi. Elizabeth and Ware were married August 13, 1795, Fluvanna County, Virginia.
Elizabeth was the daughter of James Cole, Jr. born Dec. 24, 1751, Goochland County, Virginia, died Nov. 18, 1818, at Fluvanna County, Virginia, and his wife Fanny Chisman Wills, born 1750, Fluvanna County, Virginia, and died Before 1818, Fluvanna County, Virginia. Fanny and James were married Oct. 5, 1776, Albemarle County, Virginia.

Nicolas Martiau, born 1591, Ile de Rhe, France, died April 1657, York County, Virginia. Married abt. 1627, York County, Virginia, Mrs. Jane Berkeley, the widow of Gov. Berkeley of Virginia. She was born about 1594, in England, and died abt. 1640, Elizabeth City, Virginia. Children:
1. Elizabeth (1625-1686)
Born in Elizabeth Citye County, Now Hampton. Died in Yorktown in 1686.
Married Col. George Reade, scion of the well known English family of the
Reades of Facombe. His father was Robert Reade, Esq. and his mother was
Lady Mildred Windebank, daughter of Sir Thomas Windebank, Duke of Norfolk.
The Windebank lineage traces back to Charlemagne.
2. Nicolas Jr. (c1627-c1636)
Died at an early age, perhaps 9. There was one small coffin found in the
Martiau family plot discovered in 1931. This coffin is also reinterred at grace
Church Cemetery, Yorktown, Virginia.
3. Mary (c1629 - )
Married Col. John Sca(r)brook, of York County. Leader in Bacon's Rebellion.
Issues: Jane and Elizabeth. There may have been others. Mary died shortly
after the 1656-7 death of her father, Nicolas Martiau.

Married Capt. William Fuller, the Puritant Governor of Maryland, 1654. They
lived on a plantation on the Ashley River, South Carolina. They had numerous
progeny.

Was in command of the Virginia State Militia during the siege of Yorktown in 1781. it is said he ordered the bombardment of his own house because it was believed to be the headquarters of General Charles Cornwallis. Became governor of Virginia in 1781.
