• A memorial service for Dr. Burget Arno Vose of Lake Oswego, a retired Portland-area dentist, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Lake Oswego United Church of Christ. Private interment was in Riverview Abbey Mausoleum.
He died of causes related to age July 4 in a Lake Oswego foster-care center. Dr. Vose was 82.
He was born Aug. 16, 1910, in Scoggins Valley and lived most of his life in the Portland area. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a dental surgeon on hospital ships in the Aleutian Islands and in the Mediterranean during World War II. He then served with the Army Reserve until retiring as a lieutenant colonel in the 1960s. Dr. Vose owned and operated a dental clinic in the Weatherly Building from 1945 until 1970 and then ran an office in the Taylor Building for about three years until his retirement in 1973.
He was a past grand patriarch for the Encampment branch of Odd Fellows for the state of Oregon.
Survivors include his son, Ben of Beaverton; his daughters, Nancy Haley of Salt Lake City and Trudy Fowlks of West Linn; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His wife, Ruth E., died in 1992.
