• [Elizabeth] was the only child of her parents recorded as coming to America with them.
3448, p 203• ...thought to have the John Tilley who came to New England a number of years after the Mayflower.
3458• John Tilley and his wife were part of the migration from Dorchester, MA, to Windsor, CT. It appears they went early because he was given a grant between Joshua Carter and William Hannum, very near to the Bissel’s Ferry road. When the property was later conveyed to Robert Mitchell and by him to his son, Nathaniel, there was a house on it, so John and his wife were apparently living in Windsor when he was killed. After his death, property records as “Eadie” or “Eddy” presumably standing for Edith, as the name appears in later transcripts of the records.
3455, p 118• In 1983 and again in 1990 Robert L. French set forth the hypothesis that John Tilley of Dorchester was son of JOHN TILLEY of the Mayflower [MQ 49:16-17, 56:118-21]. While the ages of the two men are about the same, Bradford’s 1651 account of the earlier John Tilley would seem to rule this possibility out conclusively [Bradford 446], and this hypothesis should not be accepted.
