• George Lumley was not characterized by the same loyalty as marked many of his family. He became involved in “Aske’s Insurrection,” with Lord Darcy, Sir Thomas Percy, brother of the Earl of Northumberland, and others, and with them was apprehended, committed to the Tower of London, and in June of 1537, they were all arraigned at Westminster before the Marquis of Exeter, High Steward of England, and being found guilty of high treason, were beheaded at Tyburn.
