• He came to America in 1630, sailing from Cowes, the Isle of Wight, March 29, in the
Arabella, one of a fleet of nine ships. He was enrolled among the passengers as a gentleman. On the passage over he acted as secretary for Governor Winthrop. He settled in Roxbury, June 17, 1630, but removed to Wethersfield, Connecticut, in 1639. He was deputy to the General Court, September, 1641, and again in 1642. He removed to Pequot, now New London, in 1649, and established himself on the banks of the Mystic River.
