Individual Notes
• Joseph Louis Crockett revisited France but the hatred was still so strong against the Huguenots that he came to this country and settled at the Huguenot colony of New Rochelle, and finally in Virginia. [2158, p 31]

• During the last half of the 17th Century they with the Calhouns, emigrated to Londonderry, Ireland. In 1728 they came to Philadelphia and soon afterwards settled at Lancaster, Penn. from which place they moved to Monocacy, Maryland. In 1749, most of the family moved to Wythe County, Va. then Augusta, and lived at Fort Chiswell where they remained until after Braddock’s defeat in 1755. [2158, p 27]

• Joseph Crockett, Sr., had one brother and two cousins who came to this country with him. Some of their descendants settled in Wythe County - others moved to Tennessee and Kentucky. He also had two sisters who were born in Londonderry, Ireland, and came over with him. [2158, p 28]

• The descendants of Joseph Crockett, Sr. were always known as the Roanoke Crocketts, to distinguish them from the descendants of his brother who were known as the Wythe Crocketts and also thos of Kentucky and Tennessee branches of the family. [2158, p 29]
