This regiment was raised to serve in the Northern Department under General Schuyler. It reinforced the troops besieging Quebec under Arnold and Wooster, and after the retreat in April 1776 was stationed at Ticonderoga, New York and vicinity, where the men suffered severely from smallpox. The regiment was engaged at the Cedars, forty miles above Montreal, on 19 May 1776, where all the officers and men were made prisoners. He was discharged 27 September 1776.
After the Revolution, probably in 1783 or 1784, the family moved to Luzerne county, Pennsylvania. The winter of 1802, they moved to Onondaga County.52, pp 28-9 Also see2043, p 4
