Individual Notes
• The memories of her childhood included the Revolutionary War. One winter, when subsistence for the Continental Army was hard to be obtained, the troops were quartered at the homes of Connecticut people, one, two or more, in a place. Four were sent to her father’s, Mr. Tibbal’s home, and remained there all winter. When she was about eight years old, word came that Gen. Washington was expected to pass through the town, and her family all went out to the gate to salute him as he passed by.
