2615, p 1• Peter Mullen, aged 83 years, died very suddenly last Saturday at the residence of his son, M. Mullen, in this city. He was on the street the day before in his usual health, but on Friday night he received a stroke of apoplexy from which he failed to rally, and he died on Saturday forenoon after an illness of but a few hours. Mr. M. Mullen on Monday morning started with the remains for Davis, Ill., his former residence where they will be interred by the side of those of his wife, who has preceded him. Mr. Peter Mullen was born in Ireland in 1798 He came to the United States when quite young and settled in St. Albans, Vermont, where he remained until 1843 when he moved west and settled near Freeport, Stephenson Co., Illinois, where he lived until 1872, when he came to New Ulm.
