• In 1870, there were two farms on the north side of Main Street, one owned by Amos Mills, the other by Thomas Boss. The Mills farm extended over the Hill (Monument Hill) to the Hibbert Mills’ land and north to the New Road (North Street). Mr. Mills also held a section on the south side at the foot of the hill which was sold in lots to English settlers. Gray’s Street was named in the old deeds “Mills Street.”824, p 3
