Individual Notes
• Although Reuben may have been with General Sullivan’s Continental Troops in 1779, he was definitely a Westchester Loyalist at the close of the Revolutionary War and was among those expelled from New York. He was aboard the Thetis which landed near Petitcodiac, Nova Scotia in June 1783. (This area became part of the new Province of New Brunswick in 1784.) Reuben was at least 25 years old by then, and perhaps already married, though all of this children were born in Canada. Although Reuben had received a land grant at River Remsheg, he never settled there, preferring to stay with his wife’s family.2098, p 8

• They all lived in the Dorchester, New Brunswick, Parish several years (Dorchester Town Records), but both Reuben and Ichabod held deeds to land in Moncton as early as 1786.2098, p 9

• Reuben Mills settled in Moncton, d. 1822. He is my earliest known verified ancestor.3886, p 1
