Individual Notes
• His will (NY Historical Society, vol. V, 1754-1760) names widowed mother, Mary, brothers David and Reuben, and sisters, Deborah, Martha, Dorothy, and Mary. No mention of a brother, John.2137,2134, p 3

• From the NY Muster roll of 1758 (NY Hist. Soc., vol. 24), we know Peter was from Bedford and 30 years old, making his birth year about 1728, and most likely the second child of George and Mary.2137

• Peter Mills, 30 yrs., laborer, from Bedford, 5’ 8”, gray eyes and a round visage, enlisted 4 April 1758 in Capt. Reuben Lockwood’s Co. He had been enlisted in Capt. Jno. Holmes’ militia company. Lockwood’s company mustered 22 April 1758.2139, p 1

• Death Date: Leaves to mother Mary “use of house and land, so long as she remains my father's widow,” then to my brothers David and Reuben. Legacies to sisters Deborah, Martha, Dorothy and Mary. Makes Obadiah Holmes and Zachariah Mills executors. Dated May 17, 1758. Proved June 10, 1759.2906, pp 155-6

• He most probably died at or near Ft. Ticonderoga, 8 Jul 1758, when Gen. Abercrombie lost 1994 men in a bizarre military operation that snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.2139, p 2

• Peter probably died in the French and Indian War soon after writing his will. Apparently he had no wife or children.2098, p 8
