• Elizabeth Howland, the fourth child and third daughter of Mayflower passengers, John and Elizabeth (Tilley) Howland, was probably born in Plymouth, Mass., about 1631. She died in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, before 26 September 1692, the date her heirs signed an agreement accepting the division of her property.
Proof of Elizabeth’s parentage is found in the probate records of her parents. Her father, John Howland, in his will dated 29 May 1672, probated 5 March 1672/3, called her “Elizabeth Dickinson” and gave her and her surviving sisters 20 shillings each. Her mother, Elizabeth (Tilley) Howland, also named her as Elizabeth Dickinson and gave her one pair of sheets, one pair of pillowbeeres and a chest.
