[1270, p 156]• He was a farmer and spent his early years at South Kingston, removing from there to Charlestown, R. I., and, later, to Lebanon, Conn. He was a member of the Society of Friends. In 1784 he and his wife were called to account by the Meeting for allowing their daughter to marry outside of the Meeting and having an entertainment at the wedding “after the manner of the world.” He kept a hotel at Lebanon.
