Individual Notes
• dau of Cornelius & Sarah (Kelsey).2284, p 1267

• Originally, I had Phebe Post as the daughter of Nathan and Hannah Barnes Post. I have been corresponding with Donald [Poste] for a number of years – as has my husband’s cousin, Barbara Foote Murphy, of Park Ridge, Ill. I really think it was Donald who corrected me on Phebe! So I changed all my lines, and in a second large book – entered Ruttys, Kelseys, and Willcoxsons. Bill and I went to Killingworth, Ct. – to cemeteries, Town Halls, etc. Now it is Donald who is switching back to Barnes, Stephens, Jordans, etc. Well, I’ll go along with him, as being a Poste – he has done a great deal of research. He lived in Buffalo until two years ago and kindly went down to Mayville, N.Y and checked out the cemetery. He looked up a lot about the Hubbards, too.2293, p 1

• She may have been the Phebe Post who m. Billey Willard of Guilford, but until further evidence can be found, the author has followed Rev. Chapman in placing her as the wife of Caleb Chapman, Jr.3251, p 375

• Unfortunately, they left out the word “probably” which I regret, as later on I discovered that Phebe signed a deed as witness with her father, Cornelius, as ‘Phebe Chapman’ (wife of Caleb Chapman). Therefore, I returned to the old theory that she was the Phebe, born to Nathan[4] Post (Abraham[3][2] Stephen[1]) and his first wife Hannah Barnes, b. 10 October 1743 (Saybrook Land Records 2:158), as stated in the 1963 Denison Genealogy.3249
Research Needed
• When researching the descendants of Abraham[2] Post, I was unfortunately unaware of the work of the late Donald E. Poste (1916-1990) of Buffalo, N. Y., and Newberry, S. C. Mr. Poste spent over fifty years tracing the Connecticut Post family. A copy of his manuscript has been donated to the Connecticut Historical Society and is another valuable resource for descendants of this family.3251, p 61
