• Thomas Hurlbut came across the Atlantic, it is supposed, in the year 1635, for he was a soldier under Lion Gardiner, who built and had command of the fort at Saybrook, Conn. It is supposed that Thomas Hurlbut was one of the 11 passengers above referred to; but who his parents were, or when or where he was born, we have not been able to learn.1874, p 15
• [Thomas] was wounded by an arrow, in a battle with the Pequot Indians, at Saybrook, Feb. 22, 1637, as appears from a letter written by Gardiner, June, 1660.3183, p 144,1722, p 27
