• Isaac Lindsay opened the first tavern in what is now Camillus village in 1793. It is impossible to determine the advent of any other settlers prior to this year, when Nicholas Lambertson arrived.2054, p 661

• In 1790 at Watervliet, Albany County, New York. The History of Onondaga Co. NY records that he was one of the first settlers in the town of Camillus.2053, p 2

• In 1793 Nicholas Lamberson (sometimes spelled Lamerson) came to Camillus and settled on a beautiful hill to the north of the village, which was known for years as Lamberson Hill (now DeVoe Road). The Lamberson house had an enormous chimney, with a large fireplace in the center for the kitchen and one on each end, which opened into rooms on the north and south sides of the house.
An interesting story is told of Mrs. Lamberson. During the War of 1812, when the Indians were hostile, the family took most of their possessions and hid them in the woods. The family stayed in a dense thicket, when the Indians were abroad. One day Mrs. Lamberson with her small child went back to the house for something. Before she could get away, she heard the Indians coming. She forced herself with the child up the chimney, and clung there until the Indians left.2913, p 6

• The year 1816 saw a considerable increase in the land owners of the town [Van Buren], including ... Nicholas Lamerson on lot 21.2054, p 722

• The abstract of graves of Revolutionary Soldiers, Volume 3, lists his burial place as the family farm west of Camillus, NY. This indicates that he served in the Revolution. The area around Camillus was government bond land, which was given to Revolutionary War soldiers, which also indicates service in the Revolution.2053, p 2
