Individual Notes
• I am the wife of Dick Thomas and the granddaughter of Walter Campbell. My father was Paul Campbell. I am trying to trace my Campbell ancestry. Can you help? What relation are you to Walter?2495

• I was presented to the Court of St. James, London, England in 1955.2485,2493

• Dick and Betsy spent the winter in La Jolla, the spring in San Antonio and then in June took a train trip across the United States. It was a voyage of rediscovery! They visited Betsy’s childhood home and school in Kenilworth, Illinois and Dick’s grandparent’s home in River Forest, Illinois. They enjoyed a dinner with his 102 year young cousin in Evanston, Illinois. The two of them are collaborating on their family history and genealogy. From Chicago they traveled to South Bend, Indiana to visit Betsy’s great-grandparents’ and grandparents’ homes. One is now a restaurant called Tippecanoe [http://www.tippe.com/], another is a law office and the third, on 365 acres, is a Catholic convent, novitiate and hospital.2496

• When I was young my mother and I went to Buffalo every year to stay with my Aunt Bell and Uncle Bob. Do you know what relationship they were to my grandfather? I have Uncle Bob’s stamp collection and a grandfather’s clock from Aunt Bell.2458

• Elizabeth Campbell Thomas, 81, affectionately known as Betsy, passed away on March 2, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Cdr. Richard "Dick" Thomas, whom she married on Valentine's day in 1962.
