• One of his sons was also in the same struggle. The grandfather [of John B. Woodcock] was a native of Connecticut, but about 1790 removed to Canada, making his way through the dense forests with an ox team for about four hundred miles, it being a most tedious and remarkable trip. In the midst of the wilderness he hewed out a farm and there made his home until called from this life, at the age of fifty-five years. His wife lived to the advanced age of ninety-one years and died in Marion township, Ogle county, Illinois.1437, p 241
